Centrifugal Cast Cylinder Liners are obtained by pouring grey iron into mold that is rotating horizontal.Grey iron introduced into the revolving mold cavity is thrown to the mold walls where it is held by centrifugal force until solidified. The speed of the rotation and metal pouring rate vary with the alloy and size and shape being cast. Perfectly shaped spun Cast Cylinder Liners resist distortion and vibration reducing the risk of cavitations.

Especially the bore of Cylinder Liner is machined in two stages to achieve best surface topography. Two steps include fine honing and Plateau honing which gives the desired structure with its plateaux and valley. The valley acts as oil retaining volumes supporting the lubrication and the plateaux with their high load bearing capacity give a wear resistant surface.Thus plateau honing aids break-in of piston surfaces and promotes precise limits, minimizing oil consumption and eliminating ring scuffing.
